Four great state parks on the Northshore

Spending the day or camping at a Louisiana State Park is a great way to spend the weekend with your family. There are four Louisiana State Parks on the Northshore all which provide a different experience with their diverse ecosystems. 


Bogue Chitto State Park - 17049 State Park Blvd., Franklinton, LA

  • Bring your RV or travel trailer. Spots near the water. Cabins and glamping tents available for rent
  • Playground, water playground, and disc golf course
  • Nature trails for hiking and a 4-mile single track mountain bike trail
  • 11 lakes stocked with a variety of freshwater fish for fishing
  • Bring your own tube or kayak or rent from Tubing in the Park
  • Bring your own horses or book a trail ride with Bogue Chitto Horse Rentals

Fairview-Riverside State Park - 119 Fairview Drive, Madisonville, LA 70447

  • Bring your RV, travel trailer or tent. Primitive campground for tent camping
  • Playgrounds and nature trails
  • Fishing pier on the Tchefuncte River
  • Bring your own kayak or canoe for paddling in the river

Fontainebleau State Park - 62883 Hwy. 1089, Mandeville, LA

  • Bring your RV, travel trailer or tent. Glamping tents available for rent. Cabins are currently closed
  • Playground and splash pad
  • Hiking trail and boardwalk
  • Fishing piers
  • Sandy beach area on Lake Pontchartrain
  • Bring your own kayak or canoe for paddling in the river

Tickfaw State Park - 27225 Patterson Road, Springfield, LA

  • Bring your RV, travel trailer or tent. Cabins and glamping tents available for rent.
  • Playground, splash pad, and nature center with exhibits
  • Hiking trails and boardwalks
  • Fishing pier
  • Bring your own kayak or canoe for paddling in the river
